Polyethylene film tapes offer many of the same benefits as our cloth tape line: superior moisture and air barrier, strong adhesion to a variety of surfaces and abrasion resistance. Due to a simpler dual layer construction, film tapes offer good stability and may be less likely than cloth tape to separate in certain harsh conditions. However, the lack of a cloth layer decreases the tapes tensile strength and results in a jagged tear. For this reason, Berry Plastics offers pinked edges on many of our film tapes for easy tearing. Film tapes may also be more flexible and conformable than cloth tapes due to their low profile. This makes them ideal for patching and adhering to round or uneven surfaces.
